ABOUT THE CLUB

The Radio Sweethearts Country Music Club runs roughly every Fourth Saturday (see dates below) in The 13th Note Cafe, 50-60 King Street, Glasgow and bi-monthly in the Cowane Centre (The Tolbooth from 30th March 2002) in Stirling. The Club runs from 8pm-Midnight and features live performances from the Sweethearts plus special guests. Normally there is one guest per evening but we have been known to put on as many as three in one night. Admission is a paltry £2.50 which includes the chance to win an exclusive one-off compilation CD featuring over 70 minutes of Classic Country songs from Classic Country artists. The club is now in it's 3rd year and going strong. Why not pop along some Saturday and experience it for yourself. NOTE: If you are an artist or in a band playing REAL country music and you'd like to play at the Sweethearts Club why not contact us on radio.sweethearts@ecosse.net and tell us a bit about yourself. Please realise that, due to the low-key nature of the club, and the low admission price, it may not be possible to pay you to play although we can promise some free beers and a fantastic and attentive audience.

THE STORY SO FAR

The first year of the club saw appearances by such luminaries as Chip Taylor, John Herald, Ben Vaughn, Michael Shelley, Jay Sherman-Godfrey (of The World Famous Blue Jays and Diesel Only fame) plus Des Horsfall, Kevin Key and a whole host of local favourites such as Freeloader, Tom Clelland and John Hinshelwood.

The second year saw the return of John Herald, with Laura Cantrell and the mighty Steve Young also making appearances, plus a whole load of great new local acts such as Dougie Robertson, Sylvia McFarlane and Sandyman as well as Cosmic Rough Riders and Yvonne Tipping. Another terrific year.
