Steve Earle Texas' top alt.country rock artist Earle he has continually challenged the music establishment building a fiercely loyal following all the while. Following a meteoric rise to the top in the late 80s/early 90s his self-destructive behaviour led to a crack cocaine habit which led to a jail sentence followed by rehab in 1994. Following the theft of his radio in jail Earle was told by a fellow inmate not to go seeking revenge but to keep himself alive and get out and make a good record which he did in style with the downhome acoustic classic "Train A Comin'". Since then his career has continued to grow.
